Hatha yoga The Hague. Of all the different branches of yoga, hatha yoga is the most practical and the most physical. In hatha yoga bodily posture (asana) and breath control (pranayama) are the main focus. Hatha is the joining of two roots: Ha (sun) and Tha (moon). The aim is to balance these opposing, but also complementary, powers that continually interact. Ha is also seen as the positive, male side, whereas Tha represents the negative, female side.

Hatha yoga addresses the entire body (senses, organs, glands, muscles and nerves, bones, blood vessels and respiration), but also the thinking mind, concentration and spiritual development. By means of the exercises body and mind are brought into balance. The body becomes limber and lithe, energy can freely move through the body again and digestion and respiration are stimulated. Hatha yoga uses movements that are inspired by nature and engage the whole body. The body becomes powerful and healthy, the mind becomes fit, calm and energetic.

Classes

The lessons in the studio are aimed at finding an inner balance: a fluid mind in a fluid body. Most important in this is the individual with his or her own unique possibilities. No two people are the same and everybody works differently!

Body and mind

We live in a busy world amidst great changes. In the weekly lessons an effort is made to maintain a state of inner peace while exploring the boundaries of our physical body in a safe way and trying to integrate the wisdom and information from body and soul. Although in every lesson the physical body is the starting point, the emotional, mental and spiritual aspects are also being addressed. The chakras are an important part of this. Even more important than physical exercise in gaining radiant health, a well-toned body or supple limbs are your intention and your focus during the exercises. A body with restrictions also has its possibilities.

years of experience

During his years of experience as a yoga teacher, Winfried Termaaten has developed an extensive range of exercises and postures; as a result no one lesson is the same. The lessons are suitable for everyone and contain a combination of warming-up exercises, breathing exercises (pranayama), body postures (asanas), and exercises for visualisation, concentration and relaxation. Sometimes a short meditation is held. All these items are taught in an alternation of powerful classical postures on the one hand and easy, subtle exercises on the other. During lessons, background information is interwoven with the exercises in a natural way.

The lessons are suitable for everyone. As many exercises have alternatives, one can still take part in an adjusted version. Some people follow classes to work on specific complaints. Others to remain agile or to keep or retrieve inner peace. Other people have been practising yoga for many years because they enjoy it. It is possible to join in at any given moment.

If you are not sure whether it is safe for you to practice yoga, ask your general practitioner for advice. For most people yoga proves to be excellent, as long as (and this goes for healthy people too) they listen well to their body and respect their own boundaries or limitations.

Conditions

New students are welcome to attend one trial lesson for a voluntary contribution or 3 lessons for a set fee of 20 euro. After this you can sign up.
The class fees are to be paid in advance at the beginning of each month, with the entire amount for the first and last months due at the time of the initial enrolment. As an exception to this, the English lessons are payable per session. The duration of all yoga classes is an hour and a half. No registration fee is charged.

The period of notice is one month. Withdrawal from a course must be done in writing before the start of the final month.
As long as space permits, one extra lesson per week, including any possible makeup lessons, is allowed at no additional charge.

All months are payable in full, with the exception of July and August, which are charged together as one month, due to a five-week summer holiday break. As long as you are enrolled, a fee is due. If you are unable to attend lessons due to your own holidays or illness, you continue to pay. You can always try to reschedule missed lessons.
